Do you have big dreams and plans for your life? Do you ever feel like there is something getting in the way of reaching your ultimate dreams of fulfillment?

Naming and claiming our dreams is hugely important. It is challenging to get to where our heart desires without truly knowing what that looks like. Sometimes when we dig deep and see our dreams, it can still take a while before we claim them — and that’s okay.

When we are crystal clear on what our BIG definition of success looks like, it can feel exciting and overwhelming. We may have an idea of what it might feel like to reach our dream (imagination is a powerful tool). But sometimes we can get caught up in our stories and fears surrounding how we will ever possibly reach our dreams. This is where the next important step and powerful tool comes into play. This way of being is simple, yet it’s one many of us forget to adopt, and that is to: BE OPEN.

When we are on the path of dream fulfillment, we usually have some kind of steps in mind. We often sketch out a plan we believe will help us achieve our goals. This road map is useful. However, if we clutch onto that map with the belief it is the only route to reaching our dreams — we are actually closing the door to an infinite number of really amazing paths. These paths can lead us to fulfilling our dreams in ways we never could have imagined– ways that land us in places surpassing our wildest dreams!

All we need to do is BE OPEN, remain open, and remind ourselves to let go of the stories that sabotage us — you know, the ones that tell us why we shouldn’t stay open. We must release the fears that tell us: we can’t, we don’t deserve, we don’t know how, we won’t know what to do when we get there, etc.

The best gift we can give ourselves after we have claimed our dream, is to show up each day OPEN and WILLING to make some steps toward our dream. Then it is simply a matter of slaying the stories and fears about what those steps have to look like — how could we possibly know ahead of time? Something I remind myself often is to:

Let go of the need to control and BE OPEN to new doors of possibility leading to my dreams — or to a dream even better than the one I named and claimed.

If this reminder is part of my daily steps, I know I am on the best and right track. This path feels right because I am open to taking steps that are new, and I don’t know where exactly they will lead me next.

When we are open, the steps appear — they may not seem like much while we are taking them. But, if we have taken them as a result of being open and willing to try new paths, the journey to reaching our dreams very quickly becomes the best part of the adventure. And enjoying the journey is why we are here!

When we reach our dreams, that journey comes to an end. Sure, we will make new dreams and embark on exciting new journeys, but we will never again replicate the adventure we are now taking toward our current dreams.

So, with that thought in mind: sit back, relax, open your heart, your mind and your pathways and enjoy the journey you are on. BE OPEN to everything that comes your way, you never know where these steps will lead you next… (that’s the point!).
