During the hurricane, also known as life, its easy to forget a very important fact-you are valuable.

You are a unique individual.

You are valuable.

No one thinks the exact same way you do.

No one looks exactly the same.

The truth is that our value is intrinsic not extrinsic.

There is great danger in placing your value on the extrinsic.

Why? Because the external will always diminish and leave you feeling broken and insecure.

Extrinsic Danger (when you base your value on externals such as):

The opinions that others have of you

Your job or career

Your achievementssuccess

What you own (cars, homes, business)

Your financial condition

Your kids

Your spouse

Your friends

Your skills/expertise

Your physical appearance

Your health

Your uniqueness comes not only from the traits and life experiences you are proud of, but from your quirks, failings, and weaknesses.

Your intrinsic value reflects your whole self, the whole package, not just the selections you and others have deemed appropriate.

Once you get to know yourself, you can start doing the hard work of being yourself.
