If Meghan Markle thought she was under a microscope in her role as an the American princess, she hasn’t seen anything yet. This week she arrived in a whole new world of scrutiny–motherhood! There will always be someone who knows better and is readily willing to share their sage advice about how to raise your children. Usually, it is someone who greatly annoys you. There will be endless debates about how to get it right and always a new approach that comes into fashion just when you get the last one down to a science. Don’t forget the biggest critic of all, that inner critic. You will doubt yourself and your decisions at least several times a day, for no good reason other than you know you don’t get a do-over with this particular happiness project. But despite all the pressure, it is the best job I ever had. So, a simple word of advice for the Duchess and every new mother out there: enjoy. There is nothing that makes a child feel more loved than knowing they delight their parents. And wherever you are, however you are doing your motherhood (single, coupled, working, at home, city, rural, home school or prep school, etc.), the mother in me sees and honors the mother in you. Mamaste!
