On the 28th of June, the United Nations Staff Recreational Council’s, Salus club, commemorated the 50th anniversary of Stone Wall, and the uprising of the Gay Civil Rights movement, by hosting an expert panel on Transgender Care & Society. Susanna Bastarrica, President of the UNSRC SaluS Club and Yanna Darilis, Journalist, Producer, Panel Moderator and co-organizer worked along with Dr.Leonid Poretzky, Chief of Endocrinology of Lenox Hill hospital-and Director of the Gerald Freidman Transgender program for Health and Wellness, who spearheaded the panel. Dr. Leonid Poretzky is also the author of “Transgender Medicine” published by Springer.

The soul purpose and goal of the panel was to inform, educate, and express medical concerns of the Transgender community from professional psychological and physical standpoints, and to de-stigmatize and differentiate gender identity and sexual orientation. The initiative of the panel was purely to discuss multidisciplinary medical care to the transgender population.

The Salus Wellbeing Network initiates panels of this nature to assist in promoting a mindful society, striving to eliminate: hate, bias and discrimination of any kind. We are of the opinion that all humans should strive to obliterate this from our society and help better understand one another through love.

The Salus Club is a Wellbeing network of the United Nations Staff Recreational Council, and is dedicated to promoting peace and wellbeing through various initiatives.
