The United Health Foundation published its annual report today, America’s Health Rankings, a state-by-state evaluation of our nation’s health.

Hawaii was deemed the healthiest state for the fifth year in a row. Rounding out the top five were Massachusetts, Connecticut, Minnesota and Vermont.

The report showed positive and negative trends in our overall health: while smoking in the U.S. has decreased 41% since 1990, there are rising rates of cardiovascular and drug deaths.
