No one likes the person that keeps talking about things they will never do.

This T.I. song popped up in my iTunes this morning and it reminded me of a conversation I had a years ago.

You have to make the differentiation between things you just talk about will never do AND the things you will do but just procrastinate about them.

Stop talking about the things you will never do, it is a waste of time and everyone is tired of hearing about it.

Focus on knocking the things off the list that you will do and don’t waste anymore time talking about them. Go do it, then talk about what you have done.

I wrote a tweet once that went something like this:

“Stop trying to get people to notice you. Work on becoming someone worth knowing, then they will come to you.”

You can do a lot of things to make yourself stand out, but if you don’t have anything to say or talk about then what does it matter?

You will have far more interesting conversations about your travels, that whitewater rafting trip, that 14’er you climbed, that business you started, that charity event you volunteered for or some other accomplishment vs. all the things you have been talking about for years that you will never do.

So what are ya waiting for?
