She climbs… higher and higher
Heart open while pulling at mine
not even realizing how much power she has
with her ability to shine
Although maybe she knows
Yet she doesn’t let on
Yes she is probably conducting the full
orchestra of life
Simply by belting out in song
She stops my cray in its tracks
My monkey-mind comes to a halt
For when she catches my attention
My brain stops doing somersaults
She brings me to presence
Eckhart Tolle moments for sure
For she guides me to my center
She reminds me of innocence
An Earth that is pure
She performs this magic trick
With her song and dance
As she belts out Alicia Keys
Taking on life with a prance
“This girl is on fire!”
My heart skips a beat
She grounds me home
To my knees
Because she is life
And all that other stuff is noise
She is growing so fast! Talks of –
Multiplication, Taylor Swift, and boys
Full of sass
Jokes
stories
songs
and laughs
Full of attitudes
hugs
and school reports
from teacher lessons and recess
and “I have your back” one on one talks with friends
she steps up to support
The ones that need her
and she can handle being checked
She has my gene
She will always find a way to connect
She wants to act on Broadway
And be a scientist
Master of my Sun

She blows me to wonder with her
Passion for STEM
Her voice
Her love
Her Carpe Diem
What’s really over the top freaking cool is all the SEL she had learned at school!
Since Miss Classen in Pre-K
Anytime I’m upset she knows just what to say
Her self emotional learning wisdom
Had become my daily anthem
She taught me
“I am the boss of myself”
“I have a control center”
“I decide my attitude”
My daughter is my mentor.
I love how when I say it’s time to get up
She rolls up from bed
Awake
She totally shows up
You never know what you’re going to get
When she makes her morning entrance to the kitchen
We could get laughs and stories
Or stomps and bitch’in
She could be fiercely gentle
Or riled up ferociousness
No matter which, a smile will come after
And that will be my mental kiss
As I send her off each day
To go learn, to find her way
And that’s what she does, she reaches higher and higher
Then, what I’m saying is
She teaches
Wowing me with her fire
I think what I love the most
Is that she has such big feels
While I don’t wish that on everyone
It makes me head over heels
Because she gets me so much
To share excitement and tears and such
And gives me big hugs
If it’s my turn to need
A total love bug
A mini me indeed
So reach for the stars Dear One
For all that you are
Enjoy presence in the journey
Take that earned star
Pull my heart
Raise my love up
Catch me by surprise
