86 percent of millennials would take a pay cut in order to work at a company where they feel the values are in tune with their own, according to a CNBC story on the new Workplace Culture report from Linkedin. That’s a massive shift from the baby boomer generation — only 9 percent of boomers said they would take a pay cut in order to work at a company where the mission aligned with their own.
LinkedIn surveyed over 3,000 full-time workers in the U.S. in April and May of this year to assess how companies can attract and retain workers. “Values define your company at its core, and are among the most important aspects for attracting and retaining great employees,” the authors of the report write. “71% of professionals say they would be willing to take a pay cut to work for a company that has a mission they believe in and shared values. Additionally, 39% of professionals would leave their current job if their employer were to ask them to do something they have an ethical or moral conflict with.”
