Mike Vestil is an entrepreneur, author, and youtuber who helps ordinary people live extra ordinary lives. He does this by teaching them how to make passive income on his mikevestil.com blog and youtube channel. His passion is traveling and eating weird foods from different countries.

I first came across Mike when one of his videos was suggested to me on YouTube. As skeptical as I was on clicking the link, I was blown away by the massive value he had to offer and better yet, admire the way others talked about him and his passion on helping others live their life by design and not by default. I am glad to have Mike take his time and give us a brief interview on his journey.

1. Humble Beginnings

Q: How did you get started and what or who inspired and empowered you to?

Read the 4 hour work week and knew that the desk life wasn’t for me

Q: What unique and creative strategies if any did you use when you were first getting started?

I did what ever it took to get in front of the people that were killing it. I would first buy their course, go to their live seminars, meet them in the bar and buy them shots. One of my biggest goals was turning my mentors into my friends and I did that in any way possible.

While I was at these events, I also began networking with the people there and a lot of those people ended up becoming leaders in the industry

I believe there is a power in proximity. And surrounding yourself around killers in business will force you to grow.

Moral of the story?

Business is a networking game.

Yes, you can kill it by just hiding behind your laptop but the real people that kill it are the people make it a priority to change the people they hang around with.

This is true in any industry and if you are trying to make it in yours, try finding the top people in your industry, find a way to add value to them, and be the person that they want to hang around and you will find your self-becoming successful by osmosis

2. Mindset

Q: What mindset distinguished you from others who were doing the same thing? How did you develop it?

I made myself believe I was going to die at age 30. Think about it. If you only had 8-10 years left to live and you knew it, what would you do differently?

The biggest reason people fail early on in life is that they think they have all the time in the world. It’s not until they are in their 40s or 50s do they finally realize they didn’t live the life that they want.

I knew that life is sooo fricken short and I wasn’t going to waste a single second not fighting for my dreams

3. What is your definition of success?

To have the freedom to do what you want to do with the people you care about the most.

4. Failure

Q: What do you think is the main reason why some people face failure when going after their vision?

This question is weird. The thing about failure is you cannot prevent it when it comes to success. Most people think you either succeed or you fail. But the truth is “failure” are just stepping stones on your path to your goals. Every single time you fail is you learn what not to do. Pretty soon you are going to run out of things that don’t work and finally start finding some ways that do

5. What is the best piece of advice you have received or came across and would like to share with everyone?

The definition of hell: on the last day you have on this earth, the person you became meets the person you could have become..

Tell yourself that everyday..
