“Why am I here?”

When was the last time you asked yourself that question? Have you ever asked yourself that question?

Well, I hope you have. Because this is one of the most important questions you need to be asking if you want to stay on track.

Getting clear on this simple question

This question is incredibly simple but it’s also incredibly powerful. It’s the one question that will always keep you on track with your internal compass.

Now, what do I mean when I say “internal compass”?

Your internal compass is what guides you on your path in life. It helps you choose which way to go, what decisions to make, and what to ultimately do with your time here on earth. Whether you realize it or not, your internal compass is what will guide you toward reaching your goals and achieving the life you really want.

When you ask yourself the question, “Why am I here?”, it makes everything clear and it helps you get through the inevitable ups and downs we all experience throughout our lives.

When you hit those bumps in the road, it can feel punishing. You’ll want to quit and you’ll find yourself wondering why you are even bothering with this in the first place…

But when you ask yourself that simple question—”Why am I here?”—everything will be put in perspective. That question will always give you the exact answer you need. It will give you a legitimate reason for why you’re doing what you’re doing, why you’re putting yourself through such hardships, and why you’re on the path that you are on.

And in some cases, this question can actually show you things you shouldn’t be doing. If you ask yourself, “Why am I here?” and you can’t give a good answer… Get out of there! If what you’re doing doesn’t line up with your internal compass and the path you’ve set for yourself, then you shouldn’t be doing it.

It’s that simple.

So, here’s an exercise you can do to use this to your advantage.

Take out a piece of paper—right now—and write down all of the reasons why you’re here. Write down all the reasons why you’re on the path you’re on, why you want to reach your goals, and why you want a better life.

Once you’ve done this, you can refer back to it when times are tough. When life slaps you in the face, you’ll know exactly why. And most importantly, you’ll have that internal voice telling you to keep going and pointing you toward all the positive things you want in life.

So be sure to ask yourself this simple question and write down your answers. Don’t do it next week, don’t do it tomorrow, don’t do it later today…

Do it now.

Have you written down your reasons yet? What are your top 3? I’d love to hear about them.
