Balance in life is hard to find. It’s nebulous. Fleeting. Difficult to even define.

The concept itself is enough to make you feel like you’re not enough in every aspect of life (especially if you’re driven to achieve); at home and at work, you feel like you should be doing more — contributing more, completing more, being available more

It’s like being on the Titanic knowing what lies ahead.

That sinking feeling inspires the creation of SMART goals and aggressive schedules supported by a tidal wave of HR strategies and tools, all in one big attempt to steer the ship in a new direction as the question still lingers…

How can I find balance?

…which makes me wonder if it’s even the right question.

Here’s the thing about balance: it creates separation between work and the rest of your life. But work isn’t separate from life, it’s part of it.

So rather than trying to measure and weigh and compare parts of your life that defy comparison, why not ask yourself if you’re feeling the harmony in how it all adds up:

Am I happy?

Am I healthy?

Is what I’m doing meaningful to me?

Do I love my life?

Only you can figure out how to say yes.

When you do, your ship will turn around.

Inner peace, on the horizon. Smooth sailing ahead.
