Getting up in the morning can be challenging, especially when you are cozily wrapped up in your blankets. The next time your alarm goes off, don’t hit the snooze button. The first 30 to 45 minutes after waking up, our bodies receive a surge of cortisol, which gives our brains an extra boost of brain power. Don’t let this go waste! Make the most out your mornings; successful entrepreneurs don’t spend the entire day sleeping.

On top of avoiding your snooze button and getting out of bed early, here are five other habits that entrepreneurs do every morning.

Save your emails for the office.

Whether or not you have a physical office, save any new emails for later in the morning when you get to work. The time you set aside in the morning is your personal time. Take this time to relax and reflect on your what the day has in store. Your emails can wait.

Fit in a workout.

If you are a yoga fanatic or would rather take a jog around the park, exercise can help clear your mind and keep you focused. Exercising also presents the perfect opportunity to daydream about the future of your business. Positive visualization can help improve your mood and can even make your entire workload seem more attainable.

Eat a healthy breakfast.

They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and that’s not a lie! Eating breakfast in the morning jump starts your metabolism and can keep your blood sugar levels in check throughout the day. Opt for simple breakfast items like fruit or oatmeal that will keep full until lunch.

Set your goals for the day.

Before you run out your front door, think about what you need to accomplish that day. In a notebook jot down the top three most important things that you need to accomplish. When you step into work and things become hectic, you can reference your list and organize yourself to get back on track.

Handle your tough tasks first.

Don’t leave your most-dreaded task on your to-do list for the late afternoon. In the morning you will have the most energy to handle the issue and once you complete you can cross it off your list. With the most laborious task out of the way, your day will feel more relaxed and pleasant. On top of that, you will have a better sense of accomplishment.
