What does creativity mean? Many people conclude that creativity takes place when we are still a child but that not true.

Science has made us to understand so many ways we can be creative. The key is acknowledging that creativity is all around due to the brain, personality, and creative process and ways by which it is displayed.

As we all know people have ideas but we have different individuals with true talent of creativity. We have different kinds of people, people that are naturally gifted in creating things, people that have creative ideas but do u know we don’t need to be gifted to be a creative thinker. All we need to do is to master and improve our thinking ability so as to be able to think creatively.

Ways to improve our thinking ability is by making use of our thinking techniques and studying the scientific principles behind creativity.

SCOTT BARRY KAUFMAN, CAROLYN GREGOIRE once said that The discovery of the “default network” of the brain—the part of the brain at work when we are not purposefully engaged in other tasks—is one of the most important recent discoveries in neuroscience. The default network enables us to construct personal meaning from our experiences, imagine other perspectives and scenarios, comprehend stories, and reflect on mental and emotional states—both our own and those of others.  It should come as no surprise then that the activity of this network—as we like to call it, the “imagination network”—also informs our most creative ideas.

Permit me to share with you the 7 habits of highly creative people. These 7 habits will help you cultivate more creativity in your life.

1.Having Silly Ideas

Being silly means a state of foolishness brought on in a particular way. Do we have silly ideas when trying to be creative? The answer is yes. If you are scared of making the fool out of yourself you can never be creative. Sometimes people need to laugh at you before you can come up with something original.

Jeroen de Ruijter once said that Highly creative people have lots and lots of ideas. Most of these ideas are absolutely absurd. As a matter of fact, creative people come up with more crappy ideas than anybody else. Needless to say, they also have more brilliant ideas. The more (wacky) ideas you have, the bigger your chances of stumbling upon something extraordinary.

2.Passion

For you to be highly creative, you have to be passionate. Being passionate leads to inspiration. Most highly creative people are inspired, hardworking, and dreaming big with doing. Mind you, don’t be passionate about the wrong angle. Most people’s advice is to be passionate but what if what you are passionate about doesn’t inspire you?

You being passionate about proving yourself to others will probably not result in creativity so don’t follow passion blindly and make sure you are open to whatever inspires you and make it revolve around you and your skills.

 3.Curiosity

Mostly, we see this curious acts in kids. Kids always want to know everything, they find it new, and that what makes it interesting. The common aspect between kids and highly creative people is the eagerness to learn and understand. For you to become highly creative you must be eager to learn at every single opportunity you get.

Jeroen de Ruijter also said that For creative people knowledge is more than just information, it’s a key that unlocks doors to new ideas. An insatiable hunger for knowledge (about your challenge or something completely different) will always provide you with novel insights and fresh ideas.

Being knowledgeable is also important and it helps in providing fresh ideas and sights for opportunities.

4.Mindfulness

The volume at which you can observe a present moment without any disturbance, distraction, or judgment is a crucial skill for anyone who seeks happiness, joy, and achievement in life. These are really important for highly creative people.

SCOTT BARRY KAUFMAN, CAROLYN GREGOIRE once said A huge body of research has associated mindfulness—both as a practice and as a personality trait—with many cognitive and psychological benefits like improved task concentration and sustained attention, empathy and compassion, introspection, self-regulation, enhanced memory and improved learning, and positive affect and emotional wellbeing. Many of these are central to creativity.

For you to be highly creative you have to attain the balance of mindfulness and mind-wandering so as to avoid disturbance and distractions.

Some shapes of mindfulness may actually work against creativity—specifically, some people that encourage one to let go of thinking instead of accepting thoughts in a more open manner.

5.Using Personal Experience

Some people think they have experience as a professional but am sorry to say this “it is useless” for developing original ideas. You being an expert will only blind you from seeing opportunities and threats.

Nevertheless, your personal “non-professional” experience will probably be your most useful source of inspiration. Highly creative people extract unique ideas from their memories all the time.  passions, dreams, stories, occurrences, life events, and so on. You can steal limitlessly from your own experience.

For you to be a highly creative person, you have to let go of your experiences so as to focus on opportunities and your creative ideas on how to execute them.

6.Breaking Rules

Don’t limit yourself if you can think your way out of it. Creativity is not about been fair, it is about been smart and intelligent.  Creative people are always going against expectations and testing the written and unwritten rules.

Jack Foster once put it nicely: “Rules are a great way to get ideas. All you have to do is break them.”

Try breaking the rules so as to get fresh ideas and be smart enough to execute them.

7.Thinking differently

Creative people are merged by their reluctance to abide by conventional ways of thinking and doing things. In selecting to do things differently, they accept the possibility of unpredictability and failure but it is precisely this risk that opens up the possibility of true innovation.

Have you ever thought about “What makes the difference between highly creative people and normal people? It is because of the way they think is far different from the way normal people think. In schools, some of us are extremely brilliant and some are average do you know why? It is because those brilliant students apply extra efforts on their books and the way they respond to things generally is different from the normal students.

That how things work generally.  If you want to succeed in anything you do, you have to put extra effort, hard work, and think differently.

Dean Keith Simonton, who studies creativity also found that the quality of creative ideas is a positive function of quantity: So, the more ideas creators create, the greater chances they will produce an outstanding piece. Doing things differently means you will probably do things badly or worse; so expect that and don’t let caution get in the way of creativity.

Conclusion

We should learn to our own creative selves and own messy, we will give other people drive to do the same. We should also help the world in welcoming creative spirits so as to help others become highly creative people.
