.Implementing healthy habits into your daily routine can help you feel less stressed, more energized and overall healthier.
Let’s dive into 7 simple healthy habits that you can start today for a happier life.
1. Start your day with gratitude
Before getting out of bed in the morning, take a minute to think about 3 things you’re grateful for. Expressing gratitude first thing in the morning can help elevate your mood and allow you to focus on the more positive things in your life.
2. Make your bed
Making your bed first thing in the morning might seem like a chore, but in reality, it only takes a couple of minutes and will give you a sense of accomplishment first thing in the morning before you even get your day started. Plus getting into a freshly made bed in the evening always feels nicer than climbing into a pile of jumbled sheets!
3. Get outside
If you have a dog, this one may be easier for you, but either way, make sure to get outside and get some fresh air for at least 10 minutes a day. Spending just a few minutes in nature can help to restore your energy and reduce stress. Try taking a walk in the morning, or enjoying your lunch in the park.
4. Stretch
Modern technology hasn’t done us favours when it comes to our posture and cramped muscles. That’s why it’s so important to carve out some time (even just 5 minutes) every day to stretch. Take a few minutes away from your desk to stretch out your neck and shoulders mid-day or head to a yoga class after work, your body will thank you!
5. Drink more water
Do you forget to drink enough water every day? If you’re feeling a bit drowsy, you may just be dehydrated and in need of a glass of water. Try leaving a big glass of water on your nightstand and drink it first thing in the morning and keep a filled reusable water bottle with you when you’re on the go.
6. Eat more plants
Fruits and veggies are naturally filled with essential vitamins and minerals our bodies need to keep us healthy. So make sure you’re adding some plants to each of your meals! Add some fruits to your breakfast, have some leafy greens at lunch and fill up your dinner plate with delicious veggies like broccoli and sweet potatoes.
7. Go to bed 30 minutes earlier
The average person needs 7-8 hours of sleep each night, but unfortunately, most of us aren’t hitting that goal. Try going to bed just 30 minutes earlier and you’ll instantly see the positive effects it has on your mood, energy and overall wellbeing.
