Mr. Alexandro Rovirosa is a lawyer, and the founder and CEO of Roma Energy Holdings, an exploration and production (E&P) company for the Oil and Gas industry established in Texas, United States. Born in Villahermosa Tabasco, Mexico, Alexandro Rovirosa has actively participated in the oil and gas industry in Mexico through its multiple companies as a PEMEX (Petroleos Mexicanos) contractor in the last 15 years, providing services related to the construction and maintenance of Oil and Gas facilities and pipelines, and other support services for the E&P industry in Mexico.
Why did you decide to create your own business?
I think I was born with an entrepreneur’s soul – I have always been independent and I like challenges and to take risks. There is nothing more exciting than transforming an idea into a business. He who doesn’t risk, doesn’t win.
What do you love most about the industry you are in?
I’ve been in the oil and gas business for many years, initially as a service contractor. But now everything is changing for us, because with Roma Energy we have the opportunity to become an exploration and production company, where everything is huge – high Risk and high reward. This industry could be controversial for its implications on the environment but the truth that this industry moves the world.
What does a typical day consist of for you?
Nothing is typical running two different kinds of companies in two different countries at the same time. In order to be proactive, I have daily video conferences with my team in Mexico and meeting with my team at our headquarters in The Woodlands, Texas. Traveling back and forth is part of my routine.
What keeps you motivated?
My family, my wife and my kids are my biggest motivation. Professionally, it’s the results and everyday opportunities to develop my ideas.
How has Roma Energy Holdings grown from its early days to now?
Roma Energy has grown relatively fast. We became operators of our first onshore block in Mexico three years ago, working in our appraisal plan for this block and ready to start producing oil early next year.
How do you maintain a solid work life balance?
This balance is very important to me. At the beginning when we moved from Mexico to the United States almost ten years ago, finding that balance was really difficult. I have to travel way more often for long periods in order to establish a solid foundation for my business, but now I’m able to handle my business in a more organized way with the help of my executive team, so I have much more time to spend time with my family.
