Aegis Capital’s Anthony Lapadula, a business professional, can very well understand the difference between entrepreneurship and working for a business. He says that freedom is alluring but starting a new business is tough – some do not flourish and others do not turn out to be profitable. However, failure should never deter you from starting a venture on your own. Sucess and accomplishment in
entrpreneurship can be rewarding in several ways. Time, income, and scheduling are often at a high cost in the beginning, but with perseverance and a hard work ethic, often, the reward is freedom. This pursuit of freedom drives many individuals to take life by the horns and pursue their dreams.
Starting a new business teaches valuable and incredible lessons. Here are 5:

I. The Journey Is Usually Harder Than Imagined
When an individual takes a plunge into the uncertain world of entrepreneurship, he often thinks that he knows just how difficult his path will be. Then, when he actually starts the business, and the rubber meets the road, he realizes that he had no idea how much work it would truly take.
This concept compels an entrepreneur to go deep and face the challenges head on, subsequently working to overcome the unforseen obstacles. While tackling the problems at hand, it also may help him to develop skills in other areas. Time management or organizational skills are something that every person can benefit from, entrpreneur or not. The entrpreneur, however, will learn to hone these skills to be as sharp as they can be. While dealing with struggle, people learn to overcome hard times they are faced with in life. It teaches them to focus on business goals with perseverance and tenacity, and to ultimately pave a way to success.

II. Most People Will Face Adversity
Initially, a business professional or entreprneur may experience confusion and resistance even if he thinks his business idea is great. Many people might criticize his failures in the beginning, and some may not agree with the ultimate goals of the business idea. One should not try to convince everyone about his actions. He should make his actions speak louder than his words.

III. An Open Mind and Perseverance
Not every business will flourish, and many struggle in the beginning. This does not mean that the life of the business ends. At times, a business executive might find that quitting is not an option since his time and money is invested so deeply. Maybe your family or life savings now depend on your success. One has to figure out new ways to work out their plan. When starting a business, an open mind and perseverance are key to building your own path. Ultimately, self drive is what will propel an entrepreneur forward.

IV. The Relationship With Your Business Can Be Complicated
In business, there might come a night when one cannot sleep because of stress about the future. And, there might be days when one cannot wait to go to bed and wake up the next day completely energized because everything went the right way. We have all been there, and these types of feelings are normal in a new venture. The relationship with your business, your employees, your colleagues, can become complicated at times. An important rule that applies to many relationships in life: Never make any important decision during highly emotional times. Learn to go through ups and downs with a sound mind and feet on the ground. Well balanced and self motivating people tend to have a strong grip on the complicated relationships that emerge from a new venture.

V. The Freedome Is Truly Priceless
The ultimate motive behind choosing entrepreneurship is freedom. The freedom that one gets to lead his life on his own terms is priceless. Time on earth is finite. Make sure you spend it wisely, as you won’t get back the time wasted.

I’ll close this article with a question for all who are reading: Are you the type of person who looks forward to Friday evening?…or Monday morning?
Anthony Lapadula at Aegis Capital encourages all individuals to take stock of their dreams, and find out if entrpreneurship is right for you.
