Emily Winter, MPH, SEP, E-RYT, is a somatic practitioner, educator, and author of Somatic Healing: Soothe Your Nervous System with Body-First Therapy. Bridging modern neuroscience with ancient body-based traditions, her work integrates public health, nature-based wisdom, Somatic Experiencing® (SE), expressive arts therapy, and yoga to make the science of the nervous system accessible and practical for everyday life. Emily holds a Master of Public Health from Boston University and a biology degree from The George Washington University and has spent more than a decade teaching individuals and training mental health, yoga, and social service professionals. She is the co-founder of Firefly Yoga International, a nonprofit that pioneered trauma-informed yoga programming in the United States, bringing somatic practices to survivors of violence, refugees, veterans, and youth. Earlier in her career, Emily worked in global health, addressing sexual violence and reproductive health in humanitarian settings. Today, she works with clients worldwide as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and registered yoga teacher, assists professional trainings for Somatic Experiencing International, and shares accessible tools for nervous system regulation through workshops, her YouTube channel, Somatic Skills with Emily, and her book. Her lifelong connection to the natural world continues to inform her approach to healing, embodiment, and well-being.
