When you have the opportunity to ask some of the most interesting people in the world about their lives, sometimes the most fascinating answers come from the simplest questions. The Thrive Questionnaire is an ongoing series that gives an intimate look inside the lives of some of the world’s most successful people.
Thrive Global: What’s the first thing you do when you get out of bed?
Katty Kay: Wake my children up for school. I’m lucky because they still give me a sleepy cuddle.
TG: What gives you energy?
KK: Sleep. Ideally at least eight hours a night. Honestly!
TG: What’s your secret life hack?
KK: I wish I had one. Are they for sale somewhere?
TG: Tell us about your relationship with your phone. Does it sleep with you?
KK: I look at it too often in the day, not at all overnight, and limit it at weekends and during evenings. No phones at table — ever!
TG: How do you deal with email?
KK: Badly. If I don’t reply to people immediately, I’m bound to forget. Friends are too often the victims of this.
TG: You unexpectedly find 15 minutes in your day, what do you do with it?
KK: Cook.
TG: When was the last time you felt burned out?
KK: The election.
TG: Share a quote that gives you strength when times are tough.
KK: “This too shall pass.”
