My greatest fear in life was getting to the end of it looking back with regret. Regret in not becoming my best self, adding value, and making an impact. This required me to take full ownership and give up unhealthy victim narratives, which was both terrifying and liberating.

Several Strategies to Assist in Chasing Purpose:

1. Start with Intention

Refuse to let fear and complacency take the reins. Intention enables you instead to embrace a life of being results-focused and action-oriented.

Some questions you can ask yourself to begin creating clarity: What do I want my life to look like? What are some things I’m not willing to settle for? Am I on track or do I need to make changes to have a better long-term trajectory?

2. Pick the Right Platforms

As you start discovering what you want from your life, you must look at where you are and what you are doing critically.

Am I in this career path because it will help me accomplish my goals or because I just fell into it? What are some things missing and what are some ways I can find a better vehicle to get to my end game? What level of success must I achieve to live the life of my dreams?

3. Become an Action-Junkie

Once you identify what career success you need to accomplish your goals, you must then reverse-engineer where you are with where you want to be.

What are my short-term, mid-term, and long-term goals? How can I break these down into bite-sized daily action steps that can be measured and habituated? How can I eliminate distractions and become more solution-oriented?

4. Study, Study, Study

You get paid not from intention or action, but the results you create consistently. This comes from becoming an expert in your field.

What are some ways you can take ownership over your personal development in your industry? What books, podcasts, or events could act as resources to fill in those gaps? Who are some experts in your industry that you could start studying or developing a relationship to learn from?

5. Establish a Master-Mind Alliance

I’ve heard that we are only as good as the books we read and the people we surround ourselves with. Learn to protect who influences you and have high standards over who gets to play that role.

Do they have the full package lifestyle you are after? Do they have a strong sense of character and values that match your own? Do they seem like people you would want to have in your life 5, 10, 20 years down the road? Would they be as invested in your success as you would be with learning from them?

Thank you for taking time to read through this. My hope was for this article to support you to think more critically about where you’re heading in life. I’d love to hear about how some of these strategies and questions have empowered you to take more ownership with living on purpose and with more joy.
