Humanity is facing the ultimate test of perseverance, resolve, and strength.
The COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak has officially been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO). This will impact our world; unlike anything we have ever seen before. None of us know what to expect, and all of us are struggling to obtain credible facts and guidance from our government. It goes without saying that public health services are needed now more than they have ever been before.
I applaud the steps our Arizona legislators took to address this. Sadly, it does not go far enough. The allocation of $50 million is a sliver of what we really need to protect Arizona residents. It goes without saying that we have yet to feel the full effects of this pandemic and must be proactive in responding. I, therefore, call on Arizona legislators to allocate an additional $150 million. I pray we will not need it but must prepare for the absolute worst-case scenario.
Everyone who is at high risk for contracting this virus must take steps to protect themselves. Credible sources of information on how to proceed should you come in contact with someone exposed to the virus can be found here:
OSHA Guidance on Preparing Workplaces for COVID-19
OSHA Guidance for COVID-19 Control & Prevention
Centers for Disease Control (CDC) COVID-19 Updates

As the uncertainty surrounding this pandemic continues, we must also ensure active participation in the elections process. With the high risk of being out in public places, everyone should consider getting on the Permanent Early Voting List (PEVL), which will allow you to vote by mail.
