+++ THEY’RE NOT MAKING IT EASY +++
The challenges that leaders face within the 21st Century workforce is unprecedented, to say the least.
There are so many issues to manage and many, if not all, come without a users manual. You and I as leaders have to figure it out and/or prepare ourselves by getting the necessary training.
Some of the workplace issues are:
- Diversity
- The Millennials and how to manage them
- Globalization
- Technological advancements
- The dawn of AI
- And on and on …
What does a leader do to manage these challenges?
That is what is discussed in this episode of The Kingsley Grant’s Show. You’ll discover what leaders need to do and the good news, it’s not as difficult as some might think.
One of the main areas of focus within the show is that of Emotional Intelligence (EI).
The term Emotelligence: The Art of Succeeding Where Others Failed, is used to convey the main ideas behind EI and leadership skills
Emotelligence is comprised of two words – emotion and intelligence. It is a both/and approach to leadership.
There are 7 Essential Traits of leadership that is taught within this concept as outlined in my newest book: The Emotelligent Leader – Succeed Where Others Failed and Become The Leader Everyone Loves and Wants to Follow. It is available on Amazon.
The 7 Essential Traits are actually chaptered headings within the book. They are as follows:
- Leadership is Stewardship – caring and nurturing
- Leadership is Relationship – know, like and trust
- Leadership is Partnership – collaboration
- Leadership is Mentorship – show them, let them
- Leadership is Craftsmanship – personal development
- Leadership is Salesmanship – persuasion
- Leadership is Directorship – decision making
Leaders who are going to succeed where others failed, must develop their emotional intelligence. The 4 areas of focus, which are also covered within the show, are:
1. Self Awareness – your ability to accurately perceive your emotions and stay aware of them as they happen.
2. Self Management – your ability to use awareness of your emotions to stay flexible and positively direct your behavior.
3. Social Awareness – your ability to accurately pick up on emotions in other people and understand what is really going on.
4. Relationship Management – your ability to use awareness of your emotions and the others’ emotions to manage interactions successfully.
When combined with the leadership traits mentioned above, leaders will be more equipped for the challenges of the 21st Century.
Remember all these challenges have one thing in common … people.
