When there isn’t anyone around that can help. When there isn’t anyone around to say the right words I need to hear, or to just listen and not try to fix the problem. For me, there is always music. I am not a musician of any kind, but music, really good music, with lyrics that touch my soul, can always lift me up. I find strength in the words and stand to fight another day.
Here are some songs I turn to most to remind me of who I am. To remind me of the person I am inside, even though I may be feeling defeated, I am a survivor. I have survived 100% of every horrible, devastating experience in my life, and music had a lot to do with finding my fight, again.
Since I can’t be there to hug you through it, I will give you “my songs” to carry you to a new place of strength. (They are in no particular order.)
Christina Aguilera- Fighter
Bon Jovi-It’s My Life
Shawn Mendes-Hold On
Madilyn Paige-Titanium
Kesha-Praying
Kelly Clarkson-Catch My Breath
Rachel Platten-Fight Song
Christina Perri-I Believe
Andra Day-Rise Up
PINK-Perfect
Champion-Carrie Underwood
PINK-A Million Dreams
Beyoncé-Halo
PINK (feat. Chris Stapleton)-Love Me Anyway
Hero-Mariah Carey
Demi Lovato-Skyscraper
Sara Bareilles-Brave
Play them. Play them LOUD! Learn the words until you can recite them to yourself, then say them until you believe them. That’s where the strength lies; it’s there between the words and the struggles. Give strength a chance, and it will rise to the surface.
