5 Tips on Turning Anxiety into Grace

Okay, so we’re getting close to a new school year. Some kids are anxious. Some teachers are anxious. And some parents are anxious, too. Considering what we hear in the news and at social gatherings, who wouldn’t be a bit on edge? Bullying. Violence. Drugs. School shootings. What’s going to happen next?

For many people, we align with whatever environment or culture we are in. You know, like misery loves company. Even Albert Einstein once said, “The field [environment] is the sole governing agency of the particle.” To some extent, we are all influenced by the culture we live in. So, if we are surrounded by fear and negativity, it’s easy to adopt it into our thinking and behavior. And often, we don’t even know we’re doing it. It becomes subconscious thinking driving habitual responses. Think of this like an autopilot.

So, what is a parent, teacher and child to do? How can we be more mindful of the field of energy we share? And how can we experience more peace throughout the day – especially in the chaotic world we live in today?

Enter miracle-minded management, a shift from one thought system to another. The Miracle-Minded Manager™ is a leader, not a follower. The Miracle-Minded Manager™ lights up the room when she enters. She brings with her a different frequency of energy, an alternative “field” for others to witness and experience. She brings hope where there is despair, enthusiasm where there is doubt, eagerness where there is resistance, and light where there is darkness. The Miracle-Minded Manager™ helps people see that there is life and renewal outside the negativity box – a transformational shift in life expectations and experience.

How does the Miracle-Minded Manager™ do this? Here are five tips to help you on your way:

  1. Be present. Live in the eternal now. Focus your conscious mind and attention on the moment at hand – the only time that really matters. Anxiety, fear and stress all come from a mind that is not present. They come from a mental projection into the future that something might go wrong. What if I fail? What if I get hurt? What if my child gets hurt? What if there is another disaster? What if I lose something I value? These are all assumptions, negative assumptions. And they create negative expectations which draw negative outcomes. They are also contagious. The people around us, including our children, pick up on these energetic vibrations and tend to agree. Now we have an even bigger problem – a collective consciousness of fear and doubt, a field of negativity attracting more negativity. This is unacceptable to the Miracle-Minded Manager™. By being present, awake and aware, we set a new tone – a tone of inspiration and fearlessness. We alter the field.
  • Be positive. Know that you have control over only one thing – your mind. Rather than try to change the world, learn to change your mind about the world. Everything else follows. Everything else in your life reflects what you hold in mind, both consciously and subconsciously. And note that your subconscious (autopilot) mind is significantly more powerful than your conscious mind. In fact, it runs over 95% of your day. So, it’s worth asking, what latent thoughts are driving my day-to-day behavior? And how am I supposed to uncover these limiting beliefs if they are subconscious? Hmmm, no wonder so many people are wandering around mindlessly. One way to discover your “inner programming” is to examine your habits and tendencies. Afterall, we reap what we sow. Want to know what you are sowing subconsciously? Examine your outcomes. They reflect your deepest assumptions and beliefs. If you are anxious and afraid, it is because you are presuming the worst. You are attached to a fear-based, ego thought-system driving insecurity, anxiety and doubt.
  • Be proactive. The Miracle-Minded Manager™ also leads by example. Rather than fall in line with everyone else who is worried and complaining, we demonstrate what it means to be in-Spirit, to be truly fearless. This isn’t something we fake or pretend isn’t there. We do it by dismissing the root cause of fear – the ego thought-system. We observe fear. We contemplate it. We empathize with people who are struggling with it. And then we show them an alternative way to experience life through our own actions. We take the lead and teach with demonstration. To paraphrase Gandhi, “We be the change we want to see in the world.”
  • Be patient. Like a master gardener, we know that the seeds we plant today will require time before they sprout and emerge as the beautiful plants they are meant to be. The same is true for all of us. We reap what we sow, but this is not necessarily an overnight sensation. It requires patience, faith and commitment. We must to let the process take its course, recognizing that there are many factors at play. Seeds and plants require sunlight just like people in the dark need hope. Seeds and plants need water just like people need encouragement and support. Contemplate this. We cannot experience fear and faith at the same time. This is a choice we all need to make, every moment of every day. What choice do you make? And what example are you setting for others?
  • Be at peace. Peace is not some external phenomenon that happens occasionally when everyone gets along. It is a state of mind, a level of consciousness, ever present and always available. There is peace in every moment. It is the stillness against which we hear sounds. It is the sacred power giving us life. It is divine intelligence uniting the trillions of cells in our bodies. It is the kingdom within – not a destination, but a way of life. Lead with peace and you will witness anxiety melt into grace, and grief morph into joy, appreciation and gratitude. Recognize and embrace the miracle and peace that you are, and others will begin to see it too.

There you have it. Five simple tips to be mindful of throughout the day.  Be present. Be positive. Be proactive. Be patient. And be at peace. Sow positive seeds and you will experience positive outcomes. This is the law of radiance and attraction. This is what miracle-minded management is all about. This is what I have practiced for many years now – raising my children, building a successful business, writing books and articles, and educating thousands of people all over the world.
