When you have the opportunity to ask some of the most interesting people in the world about their lives, sometimes the most fascinating answers come from the simplest questions. The Thrive Questionnaire is an ongoing series that gives an intimate look inside the lives of some of the world’s most successful people.
Thrive Global: What’s the first thing you do when you get out of bed?
Hannah Hart: I usually use the restroom! Then after that, I like to drink warm water with lemon to get my system started for the day. I’m a big believer in hydration!
TG: What gives you energy?
HH: Sharing/creating/making/building/doing! There is a wonderful rush that comes after creation that I can’t get enough of! Plus I feel like it’s an urge that I must follow.
Also, problem solving. I love to make connections with people and find solutions. I am a big believer in connecting the dots to make positive change.
TG: What’s your secret life hack?
HH: Puzzles! And meditation. I really like to take a break from my brain by either playing a game or doing a puzzle. I also enjoy meditating… sometimes for 3 minutes, sometimes for 20!
TG: Tell us about your relationship with your phone. Does it sleep with you?
HH: Ha! No, but it probably should! If you ask anyone I work with they will tell you that I’m terrible at replying to emails or texts in a timely manner.
TG: How do you deal with email?
HH: I let it build up into the triple digits and miss deadlines… Managing my inbox is definitely a skill I have yet to acquire!
TG: You unexpectedly find 15 minutes in your day, what do you do with it?
HH: Nap or meditate! I’m a big believer in a 3 p.m. recharge.
TG: When was the last time you felt burned out?
HH: This morning! I’ve been going nonstop for the last four months. I’m looking forward to slowing down and resting… but sometimes that’s hard to do! An open schedule can be a blessing or a curse depending on your state of mind.
TG: Share a quote that gives you strength when times are tough.
HH: “You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.” — Buddha
