I recently had the pleasure to attend the Kroger’s Wellness Your Way Festival (WYWF). I had the opportunity of interviewing Shelly Kwiatkouski yoga teacher and owner of Hot House Yoga in Ormand Beach, FL. Shelly provides expert guidance in yogic discipline. Through her kinetic insight Shelly teaches students how to access poses by breaking them down from simple to the complex, making what seems impossible possible. Students and teachers regard Shelly’s master classes as one of the most effective means of yoga and personal development, while finding themselves through form.

Thank you so much for joining us Shelly. This festival is about “Wellness Your Way”. What does the term “Wellness Your Way” mean to you?

Living a life in FEEL! I cannot image my life without my intuition. It keeps me grounded in my sense of self. I am very clear that the mind likes to be right and the heart wants to be heard. This frees me to understand many times
where people are coming from.

What inspired you to get involved with WYWF?

I have over 15,000 hours of teaching under my belt, I own/direct my
own thriving studio, Hot House Yoga in Ormond Beach, FL. Over the last
14 years, this fiery soulful studio has been my venue for which I
teach anatomy, alignment, detox and meditation workshops, beginners
200 RYT, advanced urban flow 300 RYT teachers trainings. I am a animal
lover on a mission to make a difference.

Can you tell me about a wellness challenge you’ve had and overcome?

My mother took her life on June 17, 2018 death by suicide is so painful it literally takes you to your knees. That moment haunts you, it lives with you on a cellular level periodically it rears its ugly head paralyzing you in the moment. The most starting part of moms suicide is how quickly friends moved forward after her death. For my father and I the healing process is not happening that quickly. It hurts just so dam much everyday, we just don’t share our pain with others anymore not because they don’t care they just can’t relate. Through it all my father and I are closer then ever and my relationship with god remains steadfast.

What’s your current wellness mantra or life quote?

Dear God, I know I cannot do this without you. Please be gentle with me.

What’s one wellness product/routine you can’t live without right
now?

My spiritual practice of teaching meditation and yoga. When in doubt help a brother out!

What projects are you currently working?

I have been a advocate for animal rights since the 90’s. I am currently involved in a Woman’s Exchange Program focused on Empowering Women and addressing diversity in the workplace/politics in FL.
