At the World Business Forum NYC, he continued his journey into the world of mindset with a lecture on the long-term vs. short term mindset all of us have had to deal with in the corporate world – but he did it with a new twist… He introduced the concept of finite vs infinite games to the audience.  “Business is not a finite game; however, a large number of associations are playing it like a finite game. A finite game (like chess) usually has a winner and a loser. There is no winner in business. You play to keep playing. But you can still lose.”

According to Simon Sinek, leaders who want to adopt an infinite mindset must follow five essential practices:

•           Advance a Just Cause

•           Build Trusting Teams

•           Study their Worthy Rivals

•           Prepare for Existential Flexibility

•           Demonstrate the Courage to Lead.

Additionally, something he said in our interview relates his main talk back to his older work. Essentially, if you treat business as an infinite game, with respect to your employees, it means empowering them in the long run.

With an uplifting mindset comes more drive to pursue a goal, follow a routine, and work towards it in your extra time. Changing your mindset isn’t a medium-term task, but it rather happens after some time.
