Starting and sustaining a business is a lot of work. It takes a lot from the starter, both emotional, physical and mental. What I would be discussing here is emotional and just how very important it is in sustaining or ending a business.

As someone running a business and going through a lot of hurdles, having your mind in the right place is very important. You need to keep yourself motivated and in the right frame of mind to be able to grow your business. A negative mindset would most likely make you give up at the first sign of trouble and that is the end of your business run.

The entrepreneurial spirit includes a lot of self-motivating and pushing forward towards the ultimate goal of your business. It never ends, you have to keep motivating yourself and make thinking positively a lifestyle and not a phase.

As the founder of a media and entertainment company called, Lost Boy Entertainment Company, Christian Anderson, at the young age of 21, is trying to change the way music labels handle artistes in the entertainment industry which is viewed in a negative light. As one of the best companies in the entertainment industry, Christian said he started the company when he saw firsthand the problems musicians face and wanted to create an entertainment safe home with more realistic deals that treat artists better and where they could learn and grow without the negatives of the business. A positive mindset is what Christian identifies as his motivation to start the company.

As a CEO, a positive mindset is critical to overcoming the challenges that come with both the entertainment and business industry and he here’s what he has to say about it;

The Positive vs. Negative Mindset

These two mindsets have different outcomes on everything you do. And just as their names imply, it is safe to say that each outcome is positive or negative.  Negative thoughts are dangerous because they tend to limit thinking, fester self-doubt and make you undervalue your achievements and generate a variety of other negative feelings. These Negative feelings, in turn, can lead to lack of confidence and underperformance – or worse, giving up. A positive mindset, on the other hand, leads you to think beautiful things and gives you a better outlook on life.

As an entrepreneur, I have learned that positive thinking is very instrumental in getting up every day and pushing to reach set goals. Even when you encounter hurdles and setbacks it helps you encourage yourself to keep moving forward and managing tough situations. As an entertainment company that manages eight artistes with different perceptions, we’ve often encountered difficult issues, however, our positive approach to those issues helps everything get resolved and come together perfectly. Every time.

Having a negative mindset in those situations would have led us to lose faith and give up — which is definitely not what entertainment or entrepreneurship is about.

Developing Your Mindset

Having the correct mindset, which in this case, is always a positive mindset is important for growth and success in any industry and business. However, to be able to do this you have to engage in self-care. When you are happy with yourself generally, you think positive thoughts.

Also, when you find yourself thinking negative thoughts, you can navigate them into positive thoughts and make a habit of deliberately banishing negative thoughts.

How do you view the glass? Half empty? Cancel that and see the glass of water. Choose to be positive and optimistic.
