Josh started his career in the music industry in 2007 by booking artists and promoting club shows and venues while he attended Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. By the time he graduated, Josh had garnered a long list of artists whom he worked with on tours both locally and across Canada. Some of these artists included Steve Aoki, LMFAO, deadmau5, Avicii, and Tiësto

In 2012 Josh worked as a Live Nation Tour Rep on tours that included Pitbull, Kesha, Black Sabbath, LMFAO, il Volo, and Prince. Josh lived out of a tour bus and traveled extensively across North America while at the same time he began to build his own management company from the ground up. Josh quickly transitioned into artist management when he created and launched STRVCTVRE in 2012, working with such acts as DVBBS, Borgeous, and Down with Webster.

Fast forward to today, and Josh’s company is partnered with Patriot Management, a Live Nation company. Some of Patriot Management artists currently include DVBBS, Swedish House Mafia, Skrillex, Pharrell Williams, Backstreet Boys, One Republic, N.E.R.D., The Offspring, and Jordan Solomon.

We had a chance to sit down with Josh Herman for a quick round of questions. His responses give us an insight into his inspiration, his plans for the future and a general insight into his personality.

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

From the earliest age in my life, I’ve been around music. One of the first things I can remember was going to a Bon Jovi concert with my dad who was his agent at the time. As I got older I was around more music industry folks and musicians every day was always sure that I would end up in the business. It wasn’t until I was in university where I really saw an opportunity with dance music before it really became mainstream.

Which producers are really impressing you right now?

Really hard to pick anyone in particular, personally been a big fan lately of Nora En Pure, she has established a very unique sound.

What’re your future plans with STRVTURE?

Right now I’m focused on growing my business and artists, and always looking to expand my roster with special talents. In the future looking into many more genres of music and exploring the idea of expanding STRCVTVRE into a label.

Lots of musicians find it hard to produce music, what’s your say on this?

If producing was easy, everyone would do it. I think it’s something that comes naturally to the people who are meant to do it. Of course, there’s not one person I’ve come across who’s production is perfect. Everyone has their specific talents and working and collaborating with others helps to take your craft to the next level. Even the best producers in the world are learning new things every day.

How can fans find you?

Were there any major moments along the way where you came to a crossroads and had to make a big decision?

Yes, of course, trying to make it independently as a boutique manager can be really difficult. I turned down at least 5 other companies before finding my place in Patriot Management. You have to do what feels right and make sure you’re in an environment that allows you to grow.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?

Chris and Alex from DVBBS for believing in me and trusting me as their manager from day 1 in their career.
