“A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words”
No.
Pictures are worth much more than a thousand words.
Millions upon millions of words, if anything.
Pictures are often overlooked and underappreciated. The power to teleport back into time to see a snapshot — of a moment.
The capability to pull out your phone and capture an endless stream of photos is the reason why, well, we take it for granted.
Go through your phone right now. Look at all the photos you have captured in the last couple of years and you will see what you mean. A simple snapshot will take you back into time, trigger emotions and thoughts from that time period of your life.
That picture of your first date brings you back to that young teenage boy or girl that was still trying to figure out who they are and how to date. The insecurities, the fear, the nervousness, the excitement…
Pictures of the boy or girl that you met and married…the spontaneous dates you two went on and shared memories. Or maybe you two were not good together and you have pictures of you after your divorce— and you are smiling nervously.
Those pictures of the first time you traveled. Memories of you being appalled by a different culture. That feeling of freedom and exploration that you cannot spark by yourself — in your head unless you saw it.
Pictures do what people strive to do– capture fleeting moments and hold onto them.
Take a second to be grateful for the pictures. Take photos when you go out. Grab a photo booth rental for parties and events. Take it all in.
Let’s be grateful to be able to capture emotions, thoughts, and memories through pictures.
