Marco Cabrera is a real estate mogul who’s worked his way through life just for the sole purpose of helping others achieve their dreams and aspirations.
In this article, Marco shares his view on pushing through a stressful day and achieving success in any industry.
Avoiding Burnout
To successfully deal with burnout, Marco suggests that you separate your work life and personal life. Most entrepreneurs today often come back from a stressful day at work just to continue the grind at home. Marco strongly advises against this.
“Don’t take your work home with you. When your day is over, shut down. It’s important to have a personal life where you’re not dwelling on your career/business.” – Marco explains.
As humans, spending quality time away from work can relieve us from a lot of stress and even lengthen our lifespan. So what should you do during your time off?
Well, there are a few things Marco recommends you do. The first would be to reflect on how your day went and write all your thoughts in a journal. Before he goes to bed, Marco ensures that he writes down things he’s thankful for, he also reviews situations that happened during the day and how he could have handled them better. Lastly, Marco puts down his prayer requests as a means of strengthening his faith in God.
When you’re done with all of these personal time activities, the next thing to do would be to have a good night’s rest. Clear your mind before you hit the deck, hydrate, and set your alarm to wake you 8 hours after you sleep.
Plan Ahead
As a professional, it’s essential that you have a clear vision for your day. To achieve your vision, you’ll need to adhere to a schedule. Marco reveals that he’s favorite habit is the act of scheduling his life. Every day, he sets out time to pray, read, workout, and sleep.
Another thing that helps Marco in planning his day is the habit of goal setting. Entrepreneurs are busy people, and with this comes a lot of incomplete tasks. Making a list of the goals you need to achieve as the start of your day will not only cut back on time you’ll use to sort them out during the day, but will also give you a sense of accomplishment once you complete each task.
Once you’re done with preparations, you’re set for the grueling hours of work ahead. But here’s the thing, work shouldn’t be a dreaded activity. Here’s how to make work not so dreadful;
Have you ever heard of the 90/20 rule?
The 90/20 is simply a ratio of work to relaxation, that is, ninety minutes of work with no distractions, then a twenty-minute break. Marco explains that this method creates a “flow state,” resting your brain just enough so that it’s fresh for the next ninety minutes.
The Perfect Morning
The early bird catches the worm! It’s said that waking up early gives you the edge over your competitors, apart from this, it also gives you a sense of accomplishment.
Marco shares that the first activity you do when you wake up in the morning can make or break your day. The one thing he advises against is waking up and going through social media. Social media is filled with a lot of information, both positive and negative, that can strongly influence the course of your day.
Marco shares that the first thing he does in the morning is to listen to worship music, pray, and then read the Bible. After that, he does some exercise and listens to podcasts from motivational speakers or one of his favorite preachers. This powerful start helps set the tone of his day and boost his constructive thinking.
