The search for perfection is something that troubles myself and many of my clients. Constantly striving for perfection and comparing yourself to those that seem to have it better than us is a sure way to disrupt any healthy changes you’re trying to make in your life and business. You wouldn’t believe the difference in productivity, profit and the mindset of my clients when they realise that focusing on progress, opposed to perfection, is really what puts you on the path to success.
No one gets it perfect the first time… That’s something we all need to remind ourselves from time to time. Remember that hardly anyone gets it right the first time, yet so many of us are crippled by indecision and fear of failure. We all get worried that we’re not good enough or haven’t got the goods or we just don’t have what it takes. The desire to get it right can inhibit us from getting started in the first place!
When I was trying to get my membership off the ground I was worried that people would think they are “wasting” their money if my membership wasn’t gorgeous and glossy from the get go. Wanting everything to be perfect can easily become an obsession. I was too busy trying to get everything looking pretty that I was delaying actually getting the membership out there!
Getting a thought, idea or project off the ground requires a huge amount of courage, and I know that taking action is the scariest decision you’ll make, so don’t make it even scarier by trying to make everything perfect on the first try. Practice makes perfect, and practice takes time. So start now and get perfect later.
