I had the pleasure of interviewing Tanner J Fox. Tanner is a 7-figure entrepreneur who started out as a completely broke college student looking to escape and find a way to make a full-time income online.

In one year, Tanner built several highly profitable online businesses and has helped thousands of others quit their job and make a full-time income from home.

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

I was just bored going to community college and didn’t know what I wanted to do so it initially became a way of just entertaining myself but looking up ways to make money online and I stumbled across selling on Amazon and it all went from there and I just rolled with that.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started your company?

The most interesting thing that’s why I’ve known you so far I don’t know if there’s one specific event but just the amount of people you meet and just the entire network when you’re successful other successful people come to you and just the people they know whether it’s celebrities or other really successful people it’s just crazy who you can meet through that.

Can you share a story about the funniest mistake you made when you were first starting? Can you tell us what lesson you learned from that?

The funniest mistake I made was when I was just starting to sell on Amazon and on my first product I would have made a mistake where I would have lost hundreds and hundreds of dollars which was like 50-60% of the money I had at the time. I started with $1,200. The only reason i didn’t lose this money was the supplier I was ordering inventory from told me, hey you need to do this and have this on your product if you’re selling on Amazon. You need label for Amazon, like a UPC code and I forgot to put that and if I didn’t I would have had to send all my products in and have to send them all back or have Amazon do this for a fee which would have cost me a couple hundred dollars so my supplier actually saved me with that on my first order ever.

What do you think makes your company stand out? Can you share a story?

One thing that makes me stand out when I sell on Amazon it’s just the overall quality of my listing, my images, and just knowing the correct strategies to choose the right products and find success with those.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

One of the things I do to avoid burning out is trying to incorporate some of the things I enjoy and that I like to do or that I’m passionate about into whatever work I’m working on. It’s all about consistency though and figuring out how to not burn out

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

I actually didn’t really have anyone that taught me or mentored me. I just looked things up online watching YouTube or using Google. I didn’t follow one person I just did this all myself and didn’t really have any support along the way, I just believed in myself.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

I’ve been able to help many people achieve the same goal of freedom through selling on Amazon and starting their own business just like I did. I also have been able to donate and give to charity and just help out was able to buy my mom a car I was able to donate a car to charity and just give back to the community.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

“I owe my success to having listened respectfully to the very best advice, and then going away and doing the exact opposite.” I had so many opinions when I was starting and ignored them all and followed my heart.

What are your “5 things I wish someone told me before I started my company” and why. Please share a story or example for each.

  • How to legally setup a business
  • How to research trademarks and patents
  • How to do taxes and how to save tons in taxes by incorporating correctly
  • You can never stop; you need to stay consistent to stay successful
  • Work on something you enjoy because you’ll be doing it everyday

You are a person of great influence. If you could start a movement that would bring the most amount of good to the most amount of people, what would that be? You never know what your idea can trigger. 🙂

I want people to really understand themselves emotionally because I think when we can control our own emotions and know why we feel certain ways, we can find happiness.
