The enemy of “moving forward” is our attachment to the status quo.

We tend to protect the status quo, even if it’s terrible – like staying in a bad marriage. Why? Because we “know the drill.” An inner voice says, “Let’s just stick with where we are now – that’s much safer and comfortable. Here, have some chocolate.”

Why would we opt for misery, given a choice to move forward? Because it’s the “known.” And moving forward means going into the “unknown.”

If you have a solopreneur business, and especially if you’re a naturally cautious introvert, you agonize over the choice between moving forward and sticking with the status quo on a daily basis.

Here’s the shift I would have you make: You’re probably thinking that “venturing into the unknown” is the same as going outside your comfort zone. Not so. The unknown is simply the realm of possibility — where your dreams live. Use your introvert gift of constant planning (pre-frontal cortex activity that’s optimized in the introvert brain) to strategize creative ways to navigate the unknown that are comfortable – and even fun!

Your dreams for meaningful success are waiting for you in the realm of possibility. Start moving forward from inside your comfort zone and watch your dreams come true.
