Compare what people at your company want with what human beings have always needed, and you will know how to increase employee productivity.

Companies don’t always need fancy new solutions to age-old problems. Sometimes the solutions are just as old as the innately human needs in question. Meeting the timeless demands of your people makes achieving your timely goals of the moment far easier.

But you already know the workplace needs to change. You know full well that things as they are aren’t ideal and employee productivity and moral are lacking as a result. The problem isn’t that nobody has told you this, or that you haven’t figured it out yourself. The problem is there are a thousand and one solutions clamoring for your attention and all promising they’re just what you need.

What if you didn’t have to try out all the latest workplace gimmicks? What if you could skip the latest fad and cut right to something that helps your people live and work better?

What if you could jump right to the good stuff–the things that’ll always work?

That’s exactly what you’re doing when you prioritize wellness for employees of your organization. In doing so, you make the organization stronger.

Fulfilling stable and timeless human fundamentals is a guaranteed win, and this is what remote-friendly workplaces can offer.

Creating a remote-friendly company and work culture is one of the best ways to enable people to fulfill all of their obligations, personal and professional.

People are tired, sluggish, sedentary, anxious, eating poorly, and always pressed for time. Contrast this with what they need to be productive–to move, to sleep, to eat well, to belong and feel useful — and ask yourself something. Where are people more likely to do well along these lines, at home or in an office?

The first step is to assess if your organization is ready for remote working. Implementing flexible workplace policies for all of your people–at all rungs of the organizational ladder–can make the difference between stasis and success.

I’m sure it often seems like focusing on the timely needs of the moment is all you can spare energy or resources for, but focusing on the timeless is what differentiates world-class achievers from their competitors.

Consider this quote from Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos:

“I very frequently get the question: ‘What’s going to change in the next 10 years?’ And that is a very interesting question; it’s a very common one. I almost never get the question: ‘What’s not going to change in the next 10 years?’…When you have something that you know is true, even over the long term, you can afford to put a lot of energy into it.”

Ask yourself: what’s not going to change during the next ten years?

One of the best answers to this question is what people require. It’s what they need to do their best work.

Focusing on policies that promote wellness and higher employee productivity is where you can put your efforts and know they really count for something. You’ll be better positioned for the changing times ahead and your employees will be happier for it.
