You know those people who light up a room when they walk in and instantly others gravitate toward them. I’m sure you’ve seen it happen before at a function or party.
Would you like to know the secret to becoming THAT person?
No fairy dust required.
Here are 3 simple mindset shifts that will have YOU lighting up that room and attracting others towards you.
1. Change Your Focus
It’s been said before; What you focus on is what you get.
Those people who light up a room simply by walking in are focusing on OTHERS. They are curious about what others are up to. They ask questions of the people around them which generates engaging discussions.
When we focus on ourselves in this situation, the people around us are not interested. Here ‘s the secret; Everyone wants to talk about THEMSELVES. When you tap into this and ask questions about THEM, you become the best person to talk to.
The other part to this shift is; Are you focusing on your mood or a feeling rather than on a purpose?
When we focus on a mood or feeling we are at the whim of the moment. Imagine for a second that you are building a house. What would that house look like if you built it by focusing on a mood or feeling? Interesting? Hahaha mine certainly wouldn’t have straight walls!
Yet if we focus on the PURPOSE, things begin to look the way we want.
Choose to focus on; What do I want to achieve and what do I need to overcome in this situation?
2. Get Specific With Your Language
Our language creates our world.
Do you use destructive or empowering language?
To get our shine on and be that confident person, use language in a way that empowers, fulfils and enriches our life. This is not only when speaking with others, in fact, the best place to begin is with our internal dialogue. How do you speak to yourself? What does you inner voice communicate to you? Is is language of gratitude, compassion and power? Or is it negative and destructive?
What would change, I wonder, if you were to begin speaking to yourself as if you were your best friend? Would you champion yourself more? Would you be more supportive?
This is a big one, especially for Aussies; Communicate what you want, not what you don’t want. Rather than ‘no worries’ or ‘no problem’ or ‘not bad’, how about ‘All good’, ‘That’s great’ or ‘I’m doing well’. Our un conscious mind cannot process the negative. So the mind only get the ‘worries’, ‘problem’ and ‘bad’ in those first examples.
3. Body Language Rules
This means everything that we can draw on within our physicality. When we want to become more confident, we must embody that feeling.
Next time you are with someone you believe to be confident, notice how they hold their body. Do they stand up tall or slump their shoulders? Do they hold their head high or are the often looking at the ground? What is the energy like around them? Is it always super high or super low? Or maybe it’s a sustainable energy that is consistent and grounding? Look at how they breathe. Do they breathe deep and take their time? Or are they rushing and take only shallow breaths?
Take on board what you notice and begin to embody the characteristic they are displaying. Have fun with this and see what happens. Let go of the outcome and give it a shot. After all, what’s the worst that can happen?
Now get ready to SHINE!
