(Letters to my daughters series.

Hi Honey! I love you!

Recently I started a leadership teen club. I mentor teens that are looking to learn and grow and want to do more with their lives.

I have prepared seminars on fundamental topics, and each week, I take the teens to different companies. We have our meetings in the board-room of these companies.

The owners (mostly my friends) come and share their experiences and stories, how they started their businesses, the lessons they learned in the process. It is all fascinating.

The Golden Rule:

Last Saturday, we were talking about human relations, and we discussed the golden rule.

What does it mean?

“Treat others as you would like them to treat you.” (The Bible)

I understand and try to practice this principle to the best of my human abilities. It is a fundamental concept, but such an important one if we want to succeed in life.

In history, it has been the basis for society, and this principle is in every religion. The concept is of great value to humankind, and this is why it is called “Golden rule” It is like a corner-stone for universal morality.

In business, I found out that the company that treats their clients with respect, integrity, and honesty never has to worry about success as their reputation will go before them. Services and products that add value to people will always be appreciated.

Every business deal or any human interaction should benefit all that participate in it. It is the basis for excellent relations with people and success in every facet of our lives.

What it doesn’t mean:

It doesn’t mean pleasing people or letting people use us or take advantage of our goodness. It means respecting people and treating them with love and consideration.

Law of Reciprocity:

People will always look for a way to pay you back in the same measure. If you give kindness and look for opportunities to make people feel good about themselves, it will surprise you what a positive influence you can have on others.

Why waste our time and energy hating others, or being jealous or having envy? We don’t have to win every argument. Forgive people, don’t hold grudges. What is important is the quality of our relations with the people in our lives!

Don’t play the comparing game:

Never compare your life to others, because you don’t know what their journey is all about.

You are in control of your happiness:

Nobody is except you! What other people think of you is not of your business. We cannot control what happens to us. Most things are beyond our control. But we can always control HOW we will react to people and situations.

Go outside every day; miracles are waiting to happen! And remember that whatever doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger!

“We have committed the Golden Rule to memory; let us now commit it to life.” — Edwin Markham

Your loving papa,
