The health and wellness of the population have become a greater concern than ever before. With the coronavirus pandemic showing no signs of slowing down, it’s important for everyone to stay inside and on lockdown. But while people are self-isolating, they’re falling into unhealthy habits. It’s important to try to stay as healthy and active as possible during the quarantine. Here are some helpful tips for staying healthy during the quarantine:

Practice a Mindful and Healthy Diet

Many of us stocked up on groceries before quarantine began. A large stockpile of food sitting around while locked inside can lead to boredom eating and finishing supplies that were meant for four weeks in one week. This is why it is imperative to practice mindful eating and ensuring you’re eating food with nutritional value. Make sure your diet includes plenty of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, plant or animal proteins, and healthy fats for balance. It’s also important to watch portion sizes since being in quarantine means being less active.

Stay as Active as Possible

Since going to the gym is no longer an option at a time like this, it’s important to stay as active as possible while at home. It’s hard to find motivation while stuck at home, but there are plenty of easy ways to get in your exercise instead of sitting on the couch. Not only are at-home workouts great for the body, but they’re also good for a healthy mind as well. It’s important to aim for at least 30 minutes a day of activity. This can be dancing, yoga, online exercising classes, or even playing with your kids.

Establish a Sleeping Schedule

It is very easy to mess up your sleeping habits while in quarantine. Many are going to bed at unpredictable and late hours only to wake up minutes before having to start work or waking up well into the afternoon. A bad sleeping schedule can lead to depression, anxiety, and more. This is why it is so important to establish a healthy sleeping schedule. Set a time to go to bed and to wake in order to get at least 7 hours of sleep.
