You’ve been invited to attend a destination wedding. It’s a beautiful location in a warm climate surrounded by sandy beaches. You’re honored to have been invited and have already RSVPd, but you have no idea what to pack? Well, if you take a look at the itinerary, you can quickly determine what you need to bring. Below, are a few tips to help you out.

Essentials

There is no doubt about it. These few items are extremely important to bring along with you whenever you travel. This includes your driver’s license, passport, health insurance card, credit cards, and cash. Leaving home without these could leave you stranded and unable to attend the wedding or in a beautiful destination with no cash to spend.

Wedding Day Outfit

Well, another important thing to bring with you to the destination wedding is your wedding day outfit. What do you plan on wearing for the ceremony? Start by reviewing the invitation to be sure there are no requests from the couple (i.e. casual, formal, black tie). Then, use factors like the weather and venue.

If they’re getting married on the beach, a free-flowing sundress and some sandals or flip-flops would work best for female guests as heels quickly get caught in the sand and other dress materials might be hot under the sun. Guys might go with a linen suit, a short suit, or if it’s laid back and casual you could simply wear a nice short-sleeve button-up and shorts with a tie and some loafers or sandals.

Reception Outfit

The reception is like the after party and should be treated as such. It’s time to let your hair down, get some good food, socialize, dance, and celebrate the happy new couple. You might want to head back to your hotel room and change your clothes before the reception. If the venue is indoors then ladies might want to throw on a cute romper with a strappy heel sandals. You may also prefer to go with a short summer dress and a matching pump. Guys, you might prefer some slacks a button-up and a tie.

Beach Gear

You can’t be that close to a beautiful beach and not experience it at least once? After the festivities are over, if you plan on hitting the beach, don’t forget to bring your beach gear. Since it’s a wedding perhaps ladies might be interested in packing a trendy white bikini (as long as you don’t upstage the bride, of course), a coverup, some beach shoes, a hat, and sunglasses. Guys, you’ll need a swimsuit as well along with some sandals and perhaps a t-shirt. Other beach gear should include sunscreen, towels, beach chairs, umbrellas, and some form of entertainment like a radio, volleyball, or scuba diving gear.

Everyday Wear

Do you plan on sticking around for a few days before heading back home? If so, you’re going to want to make sure you have everyday wear to hang out in. A few pairs of shorts and matching t-shirts, some sandals, socks, sneakers, and a few matching accessories are really all you need. If the bride and groom or other guests from the wedding are planning something specific during your stay, then you may need to pack for that as well. For instance, if you’re going to all grab brunch together, go on a hike, take a tour, hit the spa, or go shopping, you should have the appropriate clothing with you.

Personal Items

Outside of your wardrobe and accessories, you’ll also need to pack traditional personal items that you’d take on a trip. You’ll need soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, makeup, toothpaste, deodorant, cologne or perfume, a toothbrush, grooming or shaving supplies, and any medications or supplements you take regularly.

Destination weddings are often held at some of the most beautiful places around the world. As an honored guest, of course, you want to show up looking your absolute best at every event. Not to mention, this getaway can serve as a mini-vacation for you and your plus one.  You’ll have everything you need to have an amazing time. All you have to do is make sure you’ve gathered the items from the categories listed above.
