Think that it’s too late to start that business? Think again.

Just a few years ago I was working crazy 80-hour weeks and returned to work just five months after giving birth to twin boys. In my gut, I felt I was meant for so much more and decided to set up my own wedding and coaching businesses, making £100k in just 6 months while working full time and bringing up one-year-old twins.

After growing up on a council estate and suffering long-term childhood bullying at school, and work-place bullying in my first job, my confidence was at an all time low. If I was to meet that girl now I wouldn’t recognise her.

Everyone has a story to share – but whether you’re stuck in a dead end job, you are craving a change, or have a passion and dream that keeps you awake at night  – it is never too late to start again. How would I know? Because at age 19 I was a personal assistant, at age 25 I was an actress, at 30 a lawyer and 35 a business analyst at an investment bank. At 40 I was a mother of twins running my own multi 6 figure coaching business.

My challenges have never deterred me. In fact, they have spurred me on even further. My mantra is: if it doesn’t make you happy, it’s time to move on. You get to pivot what you do as many times as you like.

You get to decide your beliefs.

When it comes to starting and running a business, having a powerful mindset is absolutely key.

One of the biggest reasons people set up a business is to achieve some sort of freedom – whether that be time, financial, or simply to do business with the people they choose. Yes, the pressures of being an entrepreneur – no matter how small or large the company – are ever changing and ever present so resilience, routine, forward planning and forecasting are just a few of the areas that need to be on the radar of an entrepreneur for longevity and success.

So when certain situations can’t be seen clearly, having coaches, mentors and a supportive community around you will guide you practically and mentally through the steps to find a suitable solution. Good coaches have a wealth of business know-how and knowledge, and often have many years’ worth of experience in a myriad of situations in order to effect change. They will work with you to teach you what they know and how to apply it – whether that’s adopting a more positive mental approach to work or getting a job ticked off the list.

So that job or business you thought was out of reach? Of course it isn’t. It’s only your limiting beliefs that make you think that. Limiting beliefs are just a habit and as with all habits, you can learn to change them so that you can release your full potential. Once you overcome those limits, your earning potential is endless!

I encourage you to think bigger. You only get one chance at this life and none of us know when this adventure comes to an end so you need to make it count. If you’re waking up feeling unfulfilled then you have to make the decision to change. Don’t waste any more time! You’ll look back one day and remember the exact moment you made that decision to really go for the life you wanted and you’ll be so glad you did.

My twins are now 7 and are already challenging me with their different approaches to entrepreneurship. So whether you’re 7, 37, or 77; it is never too late to start.
